Junior Cervila & Guadalupe Garcia
Junior Cervila is considered a Latin “Gene Kelly” by the New York press. He is a very experienced choreographer and instructor and is recognized for his creative tango styling, his intricate footwork, as well as his dance versatility. Junior has been choreographic assistant to tango legend, Juan Carlos Copes, and his performances have been seen worldwide on Argentinian television, on stage (Broadway’s “Tango Argentino”), on tour (most notably with Junior, Guadalupe and Julio Iglesias) and on screen (“Tango”, nominated for an Academy Award for best foreign film, 1999). Now dancing with Guadalupe Garcia they form one of the most explosive tango couples in the world.
Guadalupe started dancing when she was 5 years old with Argentine Folklore and at 12 she started with Tango. When she was 18 she got the degree of Argentinean Folk teacher. 2004‐2010 ‐ Member of the UBALLET (Ballet de la Universidad de Buenos Aires), Mora Godoy's Tango Company, Juan Corvalán's Tangomalambo's Company, and Roberto Herrera's Company, with tours which travelled worldwide. 2005‐ 2006 ‐ Italy: shows “Tango Querido” (Barletta), “Noche porteña” (Matera) and “Patio Argentino” of Tango and Folklore (Roma) 2007‐2008 ‐ Greece: lessons, seminars, and dancer of the show “El Bandoneón”, Athens. 2011 ‐ Misterio Tango Festival (Argentina) 2009 ‐ 2012‐ She traveled to various cities in South America, Europe and Asia, teaching courses and seminars. (Greece, United Kingdom, Poland, France, Italy, Portugal, Dubai, Brazil y Chile) 2012 ‐ Korea (World Yeosu Expo), dancer of the show in the Argentina's pavilion. 2007 ‐ until now‐ works in local tango shows in Buenos Aires, such Complejo Tango, Michelangelo, Taconeando, Piazzolla Tango,Gala Tango and Tango Porteño. 2014 ‐ Principal Dancer at the show Glorias Porteñas, partnering Juan Carlos Copes. Together with Junior Cervila: 2015 ‐ Tango e Paixão's Show (Brazil) 2015‐2016 Principal Dancer at the show Piazzolla Tango Tango Cabaret's Show‐ Teatro Avenida ‐ Buenos Aires. With an experience of over fourteen years dancing together, they have traveled around the world, teaching and performing at festivals and major theaters.
Teachers, professional dancers and choreographers of Tango Argentino. Since 2009, they are invited masters to tango festivals around the world, Moscow, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg, Sao Paulo, Madrid, Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Seoul, Daejong, Bali, Brunei, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu East Timor, Connecticut, New Jersey, Manila, Cebu, Zamboanga were some of the cities they have visited during the last years.
In 2017 - 2018 they directed and choreographed "Tangostory" a live documental show worldwide premiered in Sao Paulo - Brazil with an amazing cast of world tango champions.
Also choreographed "Tango Miracle show" Tokyo, Japan, and also they made choreographies for the show "A Century of rejection and embrace" in Fukuoka, Japan.
In 2011, they created and directed their own company: "ConjuroTango", with 26 artists and carried on a successful tour of seven cities in China, performing the show at the most important opera theatres in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Suzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou.
Moreover, they have worked for the most important tango shows and musicals, such as "Tanguera, el musical" "Esquina Carlos Gardel" and "Señor Tango" in Buenos Aires as captain dancers. Apart from that, Luis and Analia are part of the Board of Directors in the United States National Argentine Tango Association (USNATA) - sanctioning body for Argentine Tango in the United States.
Fernanda’s new company creates a fusion between Argentine Tango with other art forms, such a theater, visual arts, opera and other styles of dance. Fernanda Ghi is a true legend in the world of Argentine tango. Renowned for her elegant style, unique interpretation, creative choreography and powerful command of the stage, she has toured internationally for well over a decade now. She and her dance partner, Guillermo Merlo were the recipients of the 1997 and 1998 TONY for Best Choreography for the show ‘Forever Tango’ on Broadway and the couple won first place in the WORLD Argentine Tango Championship in 1999. Fernanda has performed in concert with several Symphony Orchestras (New Mexico, Long Beach, Costa Mesa) and was commissioned the creation of a tango ballet for the Tulsa Ballet Dance Company. She and her partner were the feature dancers on the PBS special ‘Tango Magic’ with Pablo Ziegler and the Orpheus Orchestra and had the honor of being the first non-Asians ever invited to perform at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo. In 2017, Fernanda served as a judge at the ‘Tango Mudial,’ the World Competition for Argentine Tango.

PRO-AM & AM-AM: PRO-AM is a partnership between a dance instructor (Professional) and his/her student (Pro-Am student). While a professional dancer teaches, competes and performs for a compensation, an amateur dancer dances purely as avocation. AM-AM is a partnership between two Amateur dancers.
SALON STYLE vs. FREE STYLE: Salon style is the more traditional style whereas Freestyle allows the usage of non-traditional elements with exception of jumps and lift. Freestyle is a fusion between Nuevo, Nuevo Salon, Fusion, Fantasia, Orillero. To see which figures are allowed in Salon vs. Freestyle, click here.
BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD: Here is a list of permitted figures.
SINGLE DANCES: You will be competing with other couples on the dance floor and will receive a written evaluation for each single dance you register for. We recommend a minimum of 12 single dances to get the best out of your dance experience!
TANGO SALON CHAMPIONSHIP: Compete for the HUDSON TROPHY. Compete in Argentine Tango Salon Style. The first 3 placements will be announced and will receive trophies. A minimum of five single dances are required to enter a Championship.
MULTIDANCE CHAMPIONSHIP: Each Championship consists of Tango, Vals and Milonga. You need to dance all three dances in your level and style. The first 3 placements will be announced and will receive trophies. A minimum of five single dances are required to enter a Championship.
STAGE (single & group): Perform a Tango routine in front of the judging panel & the audience. Only you will be on the dance floor which makes it exciting. You will receive a placement, only the first 3 placements will be announced. You can perform with your dance instructor, amateur partner or as a group! Here are the rules: The competitors can present their view of the dance of Argentine Tango. This means that the competitors can use steps, figures and elements not connected to the traditional Argentine Tango. Although the choreographies have to include traditional elements of Argentine Tango such as ochos, steps, boleos, ganchos and close embrace. The competitors are allowed to break the embrace and use techniques from other dance disciplines if necessary. Elements from other dance disciplines cannot exceed 1/3 of the show. Choreography needs to contain elements of walking on the floor. The entire show (from walking onto the dance floor to leaving the dance floor) can't exceed 4 minutes.
Apart from technique and elements, the judges will also be evaluating your overall look. Therefore, It is important to look authentic. Hair and make up for ladies are mandatory, we offer hair & make up services on site.
FOLLOWERS:No pants. The length of the skirt/dress can't be shorter than 4 inches (10 cm) over the knee. Cuts are allowed and can be deeper than 4 inches (10 cm). There are no color restrictions. Rhinestones can be used in moderation. Argentine Tango dance shoes are mandatory. The height of the heel can be chosen individually. Followers tango shoes can be open or closed toe and hill, matching the dress.
LEADERS: suit is mandatory. Tango pants, vest and suit can be worn. Vest only is not allowed. No rhinestones are allowed. No bright colors. Argentine Tango dance shoes are mandatory.
STAGE: no limitations for both followers & leaders.
